the Con is three weekends away.

I guess there just arn't that many Tribesters that go? probably because of the direct conflict with Burning man?

I'm looking forward to playing Heroclix, as its my favorite game, and is now resurrecting itself from the dead. Its been on 'hiatus' (to put it euphemistically) for like six months now. But an announcement of the future of the game is due any day now at GenCon.

I also eagerly anticipate seeing MC Chris~! woot!

You know nothing of our secrect plan to attack the Convention with hundreds of Zombies?

then I guess the secret has been kept safe. We do however, need some extra volenteers; and some pre-registered victims for this project; so I'm leaking Information to you Tribester DragonCon attendees. keep it under your hat when around the more general DragonCon sites, as its supposed to be a surprise.

Programming info?

I'm trying to plan my con experience, which I generally do for any con by going through the programming schedule with a fine-toothed comb and figuring out in advance exactly what I want to be doing at any given moment. (I get a little obsessive about it.) But I can't find the programming schedule for DragonCon online. Does anyone have a link to it? Is it too early for the schedule to be posted?

This is my first time to DragonCon, and I'm a bit apprehensive about not being able to do everything I want to do while I'm there. I'll gladly take any advice anyone would care to share. :)

This year's DragonCon

Yes, this was a Nice Dragon Con DragonCon was fun

The Two 22 year Old Contest was a wash. StarGate Atlanta had a party
last Night. A Young lady was celebrating her 22nd Birthday. She had
a 22 year old Buddy. StarGate Atlanta was awarded the trophy for
several reasons. They had stars come by their party. They had great
food and Drink. They got the Trophy. They brought the Dream to
many!

The dealer Room was as I have stated earlier. It is a too to rip
off the Con Members. There were damned few deals there. The prices
are all Brick and Mortar prices. Go to a Barnes and Noble. You
will pay the same price. $20.00 for a friggin T shirt? Come on. I
don't pay that much for a shirt with a collar. be for real. Yes, I
know these dealers have to bend over and spread their cheeks for the
tables they rent.

The Drumming was better this year than Last year. Most people tried
to stay in rhythm. I could on and on about the drumming....but I
had a Nice time. I bought a New drum at Pennsic. It is already
dented. What can I say? They had this Voodoo beat going on that was interesting. People seemed to have liked it.

This year was a different DragonCon. I went to panels and had a
Greta time doing it. I want to get into make up now. The GF and a
few other ladies will teach me how to sew. This year was a basic
SCA style costume. Yes, i need to go to more Panels in future DragonCon

The art room was fun. There was a lady doing work in sculpty.
Now....I want to do it. Hell, I have some here at the house. I just
need to learn how to work it.
The whole art room was fun. sensory over load. That is what
happened. Loved it!

It was good Con this year. No doubt.....next year....I will enjoy
a room in one of the over flow Hotels. This has to be the last year
I spend $170.00 a night for a con. I thought about blowing off
next year. It is more of a walk..but I think I can handle it. Parking will be better too I think

Costumes-- like I said before. I wore this SCA thing. Next year...I want to do a Borg.....Yes..I think I BORG!

Im hosting space for all those who dont have money for a hotel...or cant afford da Con and looking for something kickazz to do!
TheRetreat aka my home lol...is on 18acres and we are having a HUGE afterparty for the Con'rs...and for my bday on 9/2;>
We will be cooking out around 6 then starting the bonfire for bellydancing, fire peformers, massage, henna and of course...the hot tub woohoooo!!!
Tents arent neccesary...though a blankie and pillow would probably be more comfie;>

...From a friend that there is a "track" this year for the drum circle. Mostly that, if you want to drum, that you have to participate in a warm-up/instructional class, because there was a lot of discord last year. (Now, I can't speak for Friday night, but that Saturday there were a few enthusiastic, but discordant players.)

Hey, someone should've emailed me about those creepy spammers! Rachel and Steve were booted out, but I'm sure more will try.

I hate the new design, but I love the functionality. If the GUI would ALLOW me to use the damn site, it just might be ok. As it is, it took me 40 minutes squirrelling around here to figure out how to remove posts and kick users. :-(

In any case, I've gotten a handle on this Tribe and made it moderated to stem the flood of spam as Tribe.net starts to grow. I'm loving that we've got almost 90 members now! Please feel free to post your con pix or info relating to other cons in the Southeast. Please do NOT use this forum for other types of stuff. Hi!

My name is Joyce and this makes my fourth year going to D*C. I have been costuming for years, attended D*C for the last three years as a costumer and will be in a variety of costumed during the day this year but I also starting dancing tribal style a little over a year ago and wonder how many other dancers will be at D*C this year?

I need some dancers to dance with this year!!

I went to a drum circle last year but had a sprained ankle so I could only drum at the drum circle in the evening. This year I am really hoping to catch up with some of my fellow tribal dancers and wonder who all I might run into.....

And will there be drum circles EVERY night? I hope so!!

First, there is nothing wrong with shoe shopping, just ask MisAngela!

My emphasis on GENERIC. With this article she is an example of the very kind of person that looked down on DragonCon types in high school. Personally, I find a platoon of stormtroopers more interesting than a herd of reality-show obsessed "normal" people.

I've finally found a place where I belong

Just wanted to introduce myself to the group! This was my 2nd visit to DragonCon. Last year I only came for one day and realized what a mistake that was. I needed more!
So this year I stayed on-site and loved every minute of it (expect for Hyatt's customer service). I saw a few panels, but mostly I lurked around people-watching and meeting the most amazing people. The DC fans are some of the nicest and interesting people I've ever met.
My "vanilla" friends can't seem to understand what all the fuss is about, but have seemed to found a place where I completely fit in. I'm counting the days until next year! :-)

Request for a Ride down to the Con

I'm not one to ask people for favors, but I will make an exception for a friend. My buddy Big Ben is going to come down to DragonCon and he doesn't have a car. He lives in Dacula, GA and I can't get up there to pick him up. So, I'm checking to see if anybody is going to be heading down I-85 to the Con that would be willing to give him a lift. He doesn't live too far off the interstate and is will to contribute $10 to gas for your troubles. He's a big friendly guy that will be good conversation and as little hassle as possible. He will only have a couple bags with him and I'm trying to avoid him trying to hitch a ride down. Anybody coming down I-85 on Friday that would be willing to help? I have further information if you are.

Dragon Con and the hurricane

Our Dragon con plans are, well, low priority right now. We are displaced in Houston, wondering when we may be able to get back home to New Orleans and see what we have left. I'm sure that we are not the only ones whose travel plans are really messed up. That, of course, is the least of our concerns.

Anyway, I just wanted to reach out to anyone else out there who either cares or is displaced too. I feel that community is very important right now.

Free Stuff, Feedback and Input Requested

Here is an idea I wanted to post so I can get some feedback as to how good of an idea it is and how to execute it.

I am a SCI-FI/computer geek and also a pack-rat. I have stuff, lots of stuff.

Occasionally, with the prodding of my loving wife, I clear out stuff. I usually take it to Salvation Army and I'm done with it. Well, when I was getting the latest box together, I realized there was stuff that the average person at Dragon*Con would be a LOT more interested in than the average person in a Salvation Army store.They are of little monetary value on eBay, but somebody may enjoy getting them for free. It is a box of videos, comic books, cards, action figures and various odds and ends. I like the idea of giving the stuff away as a way to sort of "give back to the 'Con".

I'm thinking of maybe putting the stuff in the hospitality suite. I'd prefer that people would take a couple small things or one big thing (no sense being greedy). So what do you think?

I'm a trans/genderqueer writer (author of a transgender teen novel called Choir Boy) and I'm also a huge SF/fantasy/comics geek. I love meeting smart, nerdy people, especially if they're comfortable with non-standard gender.

Hey all

This will be my girlfrinds first DragonCon and she handeld the rooms for the weekedn adn she got a great deal at the Shreiton but I see that they are not listed as a over flow hotel. Is this going to be a problem for us? How close is it located to the Con hotels?

seeking assistant with makeup skills between 2-3pm Sunday

Greeting Humans :)

I am seriously contemplating entering Miss Klingon Empire this year at DragonCon (there are two spots left, and I have one week left to decide), but I will need help with my ridges so I come seeking helping!

Sometimes I can be a less strict costumer, for walking around cons and such, but if I am getting up on a stage and competing, I need (ok, I want) to look professional or near professional level. I don't want to
be 'one of those Klingons' with the noticeable makeup line, or dark ridges with a pale face. I think my tunic fits the description or near professional, and I can whip up a new skirt to match, but my ridges
always give me quite a fit.

If you visit my Klingon page http://www.perlgurl.net/aboutme/costuming/klingon/knaDz/index.cfm you can see that my ridges have gone through quite a change, from my first set that was given to me, the
second set that I made and insisted on wearing at DragonCon 2003 (hangs head in shame) but they were huge and heavy. I now have a new set from that I can use, but have never actually attached. The new ridges are from alien relics, I need to take some photos of them for reference (and finding them would be useful I guess too) but they are lightweight and seem like they would attach to my skin relatively easily. However, since I recently cut my hair quite short and donated it to Locks for Love, I think I would need to get a wig and figure out how to attach the two together and really have no idea, or time.

For the ridges I am now looking for a more subtle look, like this

I have some great tips ridge maker that I can share with whomever is willing to help me with this endeavor.

So, anyone here good with prosthetics and makeup and free time around 2-3 pm on Sunday at Con? (the contest is at 4pm and I am sure I have to check in early). I can supply all the items, but I need a makeup assistant! In return I can offer a small stipend, or lunch or some drinks....or depending on your nature, perhaps just lots of photos for you all to humiliate me with in future will do :)

Hogwarts Students...line up here please

Ok, so don't get offended but in 2003 a group of us did "Hogwarts Hussies' as a fun costume. Yes, I am a Hussy. A Slytherin Hussy in fact! We wore these out in the evening, for fun. We wore graduation robes, with House patches bought from sci-fi trader and then wore short 'catholic girl' style skirts, tight white tops with, um, cleavage, and fishnets. I have pictures at home, and have not put them on my site yet, but I'm sure you get the picture :)

I was thinking I could revamp it for this year since I still need a fun Friday night costume.....

But I also know that there are serious Hogwarts costumers out there and have seen AMAZING reproductions done at the past couple years of D*C. So, who all is a Hogwarts costumer? Line up here!

Obviously, it can't be worked out for this year, but from what I've read about the drum circle having to move due to noise and all, there should just be a room dedicated!

I have been to ShadowCon(.org) and while it is WAY smaller, they have a Hafla Suite which rocks! I don't see why folks haven't made the connection between BellyDancing, Gamers, and Fans before.

Con registration moved to the HILTON

Just a heads up to tell you guys that registration has been moved to the Hilton. The Hilton is located behind the Marriott (from the Hyatt perspective).

the VERDICT!

kinda slow this year. Less people than expected. Games were extremely thin in the Gaming Room. especially for my chosen Game; Heroclix.

The light attendance was kind of nice though. more space, less hassle. It was a fun weekend.

I just found this tribe today, I was at DragonCon 2004 nd had a great time and met a lot of great people. But I need some Help. I can't find any pictures of me online. I went pretty much by myself. I shared a room with my friend and neither of us had a camera. But Saturday there had to be at least 50-60+ pictures taken of me but the only one I've managed to find is one I asked to photographer to mail to me.
If anyone has any pictures of me you'll know. I was the one saturday in the black Utili-Kilt wearing an "I Fuck Sheep" T-shirt. If anyone remembers me and has any pics I would love to get a copy as the only pic I have was after a girl managed to talk me out of my shirt (My nipples were sore for the next week! *L*). So If anyone has a pic of me please message me and I'll give you my email address. Thank You!

Anybody got a compound bow I can borrow?

I want to be Abigail Whistler from Blade Trinity one day at DragonCon this year, but I am having trouble finding the props. I need a compound bow, gauntlets, quiver and arrows.

The bow needs to be strung loosely and the arrows with no ends for public safety issues.

I'll just need this stuff for one day.

At DragonCon this year, I plan to hold an after hours house rules tournament. I finnished polishing and finalizing the rules, which I'll post in the next response. It'll be a Marvel only Infinity Guantlet campaign. It should take less than two and a half to three hours to run. The prize will be a complete set of the scenario which will include the following:

One Custom Infinity Guantlet dial with expertly modeled gauntlet.

Six Infinity gem dice. colored D4s that represent the gems.

One Custom Cosmic Cube dial with expertly modeled cube (it glows in the dark!) (This is not part of the tournament, just a prize)

Sixty custom Infinity Gauntlet cards, consisting of 26 feat cards (14 different cards); 15 Battlefeild condition cards (10 different cards) and 18 Cosmic Entity Cards, [size=1](each unique) which are a new custom card type I invented.

nine new custom (extremely powerful) tokens! The Racer, The Inbetweener, the Gardner, Champion, Grandmaster, the Collector, Drax the Destroyer, Mephisto, and the brilliantly designed (IMHO) Beyonder token (Beyonder is not part of the tournament, just a prize)

Complete rules sheets for the Infinity Gauntlet and Cosmic cube, with scenario rules to run your own Infinity Championship.

Think of it as winning supremacy of the universe from Eternity! The cards will be printed on cardstock, one sided and kept in card sleeves. the tokens will be printed on heavy cardboard stock. The rules will be full color and laminated. The Cube and Gauntlet Have printed dials installed in type 2 bases, and the models are permanently attached and expertly painted. It'll be a pretty little package. I've started on the cards, but I'm hoping wizkids will throw us a sneak peek so I can match their format on feat cards and Battlefield condition cards, and decide exactly how to design the Cosmic entity cards. I have already decided that they will play on the table and add "abilities" which will behave exactly like Team Abilities.

I'm a game geek and Graphic Designer as well as an Illustrator and comic artist. This will be a sweet little package. You want to win this. plus; it's 100% free! that's right. I just love you guys that much. I hope to have at least 24 people sign up, but even better would be 48! As we draw closer to DragonCon I'll draw up a pre-registration.
